The process that is used to obtain hardwood floors is one that kills the trees and the new trees need to grow for up to fourty years before becoming mature. The cork flooring is made from the waste product from the cork that is used in wine bottles, which is not to be confused with new cork floors. Therefore cork is harvested and the floors are made in an environmentally fashion.
